ANALOGUE PROCESS  modelling/ material/ transformation
DIGITAL MACHINERY  3d printer/ scanner
PERFORMANCE TEST  fit distance/ height travelled

When we travel, especially in modern days, people tend to rely on mechanics for convinence and time saving. We are always capsulated by the walls or the envelope of a moving vehicle which creates a barrier between the outside world and us. Therefore, the deliberate human experience is reduced and pulled back. Through this design process, we must gather our ideas and finalise whether such independence is necessary.

'He slept through the night, dreaming of glass aeroplanes, their wings like mirror, that circled the dark air over his head, waiting to carry him away to some sunlit eyrie among the clouds...'

'"We watched you driving around", she told him matter-of-factly and without any rancour. "killing allthose flower -in a way it must have been fun"'

The mathematical and scientific process of a mechanic should always progress in parallel with its aesthetic. The balance between funtionality/structure and aesthetics is extremely hard to achieve fully; either one usually triumps the other. Accuracy of the fitting is very important; to be lighter than air seems to requrie the most delicate touches. In our third studio focus, we are dedicated to experiment, reinvent, renovate and recreate vehicles and explore its relationship between its people inside/above/below its body of the vehicle and space. How is space around the vehicle treated? Discuss its movement, directionality, speed and motion. How can the natural world of force thrust or lift the vehicles? Afterall, what kind of feeling, emotional response do we want them to feel?

With such thoughts and knowledge, we must experiment and create power sources (renewable and non-renewable) which could possibly portray our initial ideas. Consider where these courtesy vehicles arrive, depart and be stored.

Think about: suction, tumble, collapse, indentation, pulsing, gravity, tangled, jaggered, pleasing, linear passage, ripple effect.
