initial ideas-between two floors


FIRST STAIR

Our initial hotel ideas reflect this sense of things not seeming to be what they are at first glance and how you experience a space is dependent on your perception. Therefore we wanted to explore these ideas with our stairs as well. We thought it would be interesting to create a space or set of stairs that reveals itself to you and opens up more as you continue to explore and climb it. And so this is where we came up with the idea of a circular, conical set of stairs that you experience in an interior rather than exterior space.

It has an interesting section as it shows the passage ways on the sides which could lead into different parts of the hotel through underground and more abstract stairs.

SECOND STAIR

With our second set of stairs we decided to explore the exterior aspect more and how it could tie in with the exterior of our hotel. Since we really liked the idea of our hotel being underground or underwater, with this set of stairs we were exploring how the stairs could be placed on the exterior of the site and how it could lead to different levels yet still maintaining that spontaneous and disorderly feel of the outdoors.
